Johnnie Luca...

...has spent over sixteen years in the music-performance industry, involved in numerous projects. He currently performs on drums and sings in the Adrian Belew Power Trio and has worked stage management and tech for Adrian Belew since 2019, as well as guitar tech for Todd Rundgren with Celebrating David Bowie in 2022. Johnnie works as stage manager, backline tech, and guitar and keyboard tech for Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew Remain In Light. He's also performed with members of Talking Heads - (Jerry Harrison); King Crimson - (Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto); Living Color - (Doug Wimbish); Snarky Puppy - (Zack Brock); and musicians like Bakithi Kumalo, Billy Martin, Trey Gunn, Markus Reuter, Teddy Kumpel, and Julie Slick.

Johnnie Luca was born into a musical family of parents Lou Luca and Betty Luca. While growing up on Long Island, Johnnie learned to play multiple instruments, which include: drums & percussion, guitar, bass guitar, piano, trumpet and vocals. His father, Lou Luca, being a talented songwriter and musician himself, passed on the love and passion for music, influencing Johnnie at the young age of four years old.

Always having musical instruments at his fingertips, Johnnie gravitated mostly towards drums; then later, found a passion for melodic instruments. He started writing and recording music with his father, Lou, and found that music can be more than just a hobby. He joined the trumpet section in his elementary school band ensemble, while taking private piano lessons at home.

At the age of 14, he found an interest in writing his own music where all instruments are performed on his own. By 2018, Johnnie released his debut EP, DISTORTED, and since then, he has released a single, Get to the Punch and Right Where We Left Off, in 2020.

Other projects include groups such as: Funkin' A - (bass, vocals); Storytellers - (bass, percussion); MATTER - (drums, bass), and many more.

Production & Recording

Aside from being a musician, Johnnie has also honed the craft of engineering and producing. DISTORTED, although mixed by Rich Gaglia in Queens at Rich Sounds, was mostly recorded in Luca Boys Studios with Johnnie behind all the instruments while simultaneously pressing the record button. Johnnie produced every session during the mixing of DISTORTED.

Get to the Punch and Right Where We Left Off were fully recorded, mixed, and mastered by Johnnie Luca.

Fully equipped, Johnnie creates ideas and brings them to life at the comfort of a home studio.

In addition to full self-production, Johnnie works with others  on the music they would like to bring to life as their own. As a session player, recording engineer, producer, and mixing engineer, he allows a fully creative workspace for others and works closely and intently to bring dreams to fruition.
